SFO to Napa is a 75 to 100 minute drive depending on time of day. The route runs north on the 101, across the Richmond Bridge, north on the 580 to the 80, east through Vallejo, then north into Carneros and onto the Silverado Trail or the 29 depending on your hotel. We run this route nearly daily.
What makes it more than a long drive: customs timing if you are arriving on an international flight, the Vallejo corridor traffic on Friday evenings, the wine-country exit at Carneros for the southern hotels (Carneros Resort, Domaine Carneros area) versus the northern exit at St. Helena for Meadowood and Auberge. SFO meet
For international arrivals at Terminal A: meet at the international arrivals area with a name placard, or curbside pickup based on your preference. For domestic arrivals at T1/T2/T3: curbside on Level 2 at your terminal. The chauffeur texts the exact spot 15 minutes before pickup.
Customs hold
International arrivals clear customs in 25 to 40 minutes typically. The first 60 minutes of wait after wheels-down are free. We do not start the clock until you are out of customs.
The drive
101 north through Marin, across the Richmond Bridge, north on the 580 to the 80, east through Vallejo, north into Carneros. Hotel drop-off at your address. We pre-load the hotel address before you land so we are not routing on arrival.
Hotel arrival
Curbside drop-off at your hotel entrance. Bell-staff handoff. We coordinate with the hotel for any unusual access (private vineyard rental, locked driveway codes, etc.) ahead of the arrival.
